Enterprise Data Architect
Data Architecture Implementation: In conjunction with system users, managers, councils, executives and key stakeholders, ensure that the enterprise data architecture is well communicated and implementable. This requires the facilitation of architecture committees whereby full collaboration can be expected, with cross functionality across ITD and the organization units. This position also provides expert mentoring to ITD teams on the implementation of the enterprise wide data architecture and ensures broad compliance.
Data Architecture Development: Creates and maintains a comprehensive enterprise wide technological data architecture plan in accordance with the IT strategic and tactical plans. The plan is based on the IT and operating units’ technological direction and is an end-to-end view that includes IT Process, Application, Data, Technical/Infrastructure, and Services architectures. It is this position’s responsibility to ensure at a tactical level that the enterprise architecture is comprehensive and fully integrated.
Data Architecture Analysis: Specifically with regards to data, this position works closely with Education, Endowment, Trust, Support leaderships and IT staff to analyze existing and emerging technologies; plans and helps determine which technology direction is appropriate for the education, business and IT units to achieve KS and IT strategic goals. This includes technologies that have the potential to create educational and business opportunities, and the architecture, technology direction, migration strategies, and contingency of the data infrastructure components.
Data Architecture Strategy and Processes: Works closely with the IT Planning & Architecture Manager to facilitate and collaborate with IT and KS leadership to help develop a system-wide data architecture strategy and corresponding architecture requirements, procedures and guidelines, with the objective of architecting KS’ information technology to maximize the value of KS’ information technology and minimize the cost, time and effort required to implement and maintain KS’ information technology.
Position Requirements
• Demonstrated broad knowledge of enterprise data design, application data design and architecture, enterprise application integration, data integration, and overall data infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data management principles, processes, tools and best practices.
• Strong in-depth technical knowledge of data management, modeling, profiling, and repository tools
• PM skills preferred; certification not required
• Strong facilitation, interpersonal and consultative skills. Ability to develop and work with different constituencies in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and discernment.
• Initiative and ‘Can Do’ Attitude Required.
Educational Requirements
Bachelors Degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree preferred.
Two or three years of related work experience specific to data architecture experience.
High School or seven years work experience in directly planning, designing, developing and implementing IT systems.
