Early Intervention Teacher

Applicant MUST HAVE:  Bachelor's Degree AND hold a Louisiana Certification In Early Intervention or Noncategorical Preschool.

 

Job Purpose:

Helps developmentally delayed and at-risk children and their families by providing multidisciplinary child and family assessments and interventions.

Duties:

* Assesses children with developmental delays and at-risk children by selecting assessment instruments; evaluating cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication development; participating in multidisciplinary assessments.

* Reports test results by interpreting, analyzing, and documenting data; routing reports.

* Develops care plan by coordinating the interdisciplinary assessment team; sharing information, determining roles; advocating consultation with other professionals; determining services required.

* Provides individual and group interventions by scheduling, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the intervention plan; maintaining referral, advocacy, service planning, and crisis support.

* Educates families by providing family-focused activities; keeping parents informed of current child development trends and practices related to the needs of their child.

* Helps families act as advocates for their child by establishing and maintaining relationships with families; providing supportive assistance to families; facilitating parent-child interactions; encouraging parents to participate in as normal a lifestyle as possible.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Accomplishes child development/medical center objectives by establishing standards and procedures; measuring results against plans and standards; evaluating and improving methods; making required changes.

* Avoids legal challenges by keeping client information confidential.

* Improves quality results by studying and evaluating new trends; re-designing processes; implementing improvements.

* Serves and protects the medical centercommunity by adhering to professional standards, medical center policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and jcaho standards.

* Enhances child development and medical center reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
