Networks Mission: Networks Financial Institute (NFI) was created with the generous support of the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and is an outreach program of Indiana State University. NFI will connect industry thought and practice by leading and integrating financial services industry research, education, and applied knowledge. In building bridges between these groups, NFI will be a dynamic force in creating opportunities for students, educators, industry executives, advisors, and lawmakers domestically and internationally.
Basic Purpose & Scope: The Director of Financial Literacy is responsible for managing, directly and through staff, the financial literacy programs of NFI, including the Kids Count and Money Bus programs. The Director will provide strategic leadership for the continued development and expansion of NFI’s financial literacy vision
Responsibilities: OVERVIEW:
NFI is seeking a candidate who is visionary, strategic, and able to frame and manage to outcomes. He/she must have knowledge and experience in innovative educational program, development, implementation, and assessment.
EDUCATION EXPERTISE:
The Director must possess expertise in education, educational programming and have or be willing to develop expertise in financial literacy education for K-12. We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrated leadership experience in directing and producing creative education solutions utilizing non-traditional approaches.
He/she must stay current on most recent subject area strategies, trends and initiatives.
EXTERNAL RELATIONS:
The Director of Financial Literacy will serve as NFI’s point person externally for financial literacy topics and initiatives. The Director may be asked to represent NFI and its programs with policymakers, the media, and others.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
The Director must demonstrate effective people management skills - both those with direct reporting relationships, and vendors. The Director will manage a small internal team of specialists to assure the financial literacy program operations of NFI run smoothly and meet quality and effectiveness goals.
The Director will also define and manage project work done by contracted subject matter experts and content writers and web designers.
Directly and through the NFI team, the Director of Financial Literacy and his/her team will also provide support to program educators and pre service teachers.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent project management skills in development, implementation and evaluation of projects. The candidate will use their leadership skills to manage development, implementation, and operation of NFI’s financial literacy programs. Integral to the role will be management of new initiatives including national expansion of Kids Count, and the development of a financial literacy professional development program for educators and pre-service teachers.

Required Education: Required: Master’s degree in Education or related field, with an emphasis in curriculum development and instructional design a plus.
Preferred Education: Preferred: Ph.D. in education or related field.
Required Skills & Exp.: Expertise in educational design and program implementation; curriculum development experience. Understanding of best practices in the instructional design and development of professional development programming for educators. Demonstrated experience and success managing people and projects. A minimum of three to five years successful teaching experience, preferably in K-6 setting (mathematics experience preferable). Excellent research, writing and verbal communications skills. Excellent organizational and follow-through skills, with an emphasis in project management. Ability to manage simultaneous projects. Ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, and creativity.
Preferred Skills: Understanding of instructional technology and its impact on learning.
