This position reports to the Vice President and Treasurer and will be a key member of the finance team with regard to treasury operations, investment management, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
Investment Management/EndowmentServe as the primary liaison between the university and its investment managers and custodian bank on investment issues, operating procedures, and administrative mattersTrack and monitor investment performance in relation to established benchmarksPrepare monthly analyses, both quantitative and qualitative, in memorandum form for the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees, and compile information and documents for a monthly mailing to the CommitteeAt the Committee's request, schedule presentations by current and prospective investment managersCoordinate and document the due diligence process for new and existing investment managersExecute the decisions of the Investment Committee including the hiring and termination of investment managersReview and coordinate all investment related contracts and other legal documents with the office of the General CounselManage the payment and receipt of capital calls and distributions for alternative investments, e.g. private equityTrack all cash flow activity in the university's endowment pool, including gifts and spendingMonitor investment management feesRemain up-to-date on the complexities and evolving trends and products in the capital markets and conduct research on selected topics
Treasury Operations/Working Capital InvestmentsForecast cash balances to incorporate cash inflows and outflows from major sourcesMonitor cash balances on a daily basis, ensuring adequate cash is available for operations and capital expenditures while maximizing the amount of cash investedEnsure the university's operating cash investment vehicles are appropriate with regard to liquidity, risk, duration, return, fee structure, etc.
Accounting and ReportingCoordinate accounting for the university's investments, both endowment and short-term, with the ControllerReconcile all investment accountsForecast annual endowment spending for the Office of Budget & PlanningAct as primary contact for the annual NACUBO Endowment Study, compiling and entering data and analyzing study results from the university's perspective
Requirements:MBA or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting or related field of studyCFA credentials a plusMinimum of five years experience in treasury operations or investment managementExperience in higher education is strongly preferredAbility to work effectively and collaboratively with various internal and external constituentsHigh level of integrity, ethics, and professionalismEvidence of strong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to summarize and present complex financial analytics in a variety of formats
