Digital Studio Technology Specialist

Description:New York University's Digital Studio is seeking a Technology Specialist for NYU Abu Dhabi who will work, both in New York and Abu Dhabi, to provide support for scholars at NYU Abu Dhabi and the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute and to help meet the pedagogical and research requirements of the Global Network University.The Technology Specialist for NYUAD will work with Digital Studio staff, librarians, and ITS Faculty Technology Services staff in both New York and Abu Dhabi to provide faculty support for integrating research resources with technology for scholarship and teaching. The Global Network University will require the creative development of electronic resources to link the campuses of NYU in Abu Dhabi and New York, and the Technology Specialist will play a critical role in assisting faculty to teach and research in this new context. Prior to the opening of NYU Abu Dhabi in 2010, the Technology Specialist for NYUAD will focus on providing support for scholars at the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute and enabling the wide range of activities intended to promote connections between the two campuses of NYU.The Digital Studio Technology Specialist for NYU Abu Dhabi will have a dual report to both the head of the Digital Studio and to NYU's Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Programs and Campus Planning, NYU Abu Dhabi. This position will be based in New York and will require frequent travel to Abu Dhabi.Key Responsibilities:As a key Library liaison to NYU Abu Dhabi, the Digital Studio Technology Specialist for NYU Abu Dhabi will:ovide client service in the Digital Studio for faculty associated with NYU Abu Dhabi and at other global sites, working directly with clients (in person, email, phone, video conference, etc.);rk collaboratively with staff in the Digital Studio, NYU Libraries, ITS Faculty Technology Services, and ITS Client Services in New York and Abu Dhabi to support the academic technology needs of NYU Abu Dhabi scholars and staff;ovide support for the development of Global Network Seminars;rk with NYUAD and Institute staff to develop their website, including incorporating electronic publications and other multimedia;vise and educate faculty and scholars associated with NYUAD and the NYUAD Institute about available information technology resources and services for teaching and research across Libraries, Information Technology Services, and NYU;nnect NYUAD faculty with Library subject specialists to bring research content and tools into their scholarship and teaching;velop a technology environment conducive to effective client work: aluate user needs; aluate current technology used by faculty and scholars;search and test new information technologies for scholarship and teaching within new learning environments and recommend technology solutions appropriate to the needs of NYU Abu Dhabi and other global sites;velop and support standardized, core technology and person-to-person services for teaching and research; pervise the work of students and/or consultants working in the Digital Studio or on special IT projects, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance. Identify and prioritize staff assignments to ensure deadlines are met;velop and deliver training programs including one-on-one instruction, seminars, training sessions, and workshops;avel to Abu Dhabi to provide on-site support as neededis position is appointed for two years, with a possibility for renewal
