Essential Functions of Position
Assignment will be 100% in DSP&S. Includes determining qualifications and appropriate individual support programs for developmentally disabled students; providing direct personal, vocational, and academic counseling services; meet with faculty and other academic staff as necessary to support the individual educational programs of developmentally disabled students; provide liaison services between disabled students, faculty, staff, CVRC, and appropriate campus and community support systems; participate in the preparation of budget, state reports, grants and other reports as directed; organize and offer various support groups, instruction and programs for developmentally disabled students; interpret diagnostic test results to students, parents, and counselors, skilled in use of technology; and perform other related job duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
Include earned master's degree in rehabilitation counseling; or earned master's degree in special education and twenty four or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, or social work; or earned master's degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare and either twelve or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically in counseling or rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, or two years of fulltime experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following: counseling or guidance for students with disabilities, or counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for person with disabilities; or a valid California Community College Credential and demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications
Include extent of experience counseling with students with developmental disabilities in college level disabled students programs; extent of experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds; knowledge of the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Title V of Education code, and Title XVII CVRC Regulations; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; demonstrated ability to use technology; extent of related work and professional experience including teaching, grant writing, financial/reporting procedures, and case management; and potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.

Conditions of Employment
220 duty days per year contingent upon funding.

Salary and Benefits
Starting salary is $63,555 - $95,685 based on education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $1,913 is available. In addition, the District offers an attractive fringe benefit package including health, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, and life insurance as well as disability coverage for employees. Employees are also members of the California State Teacher's Retirement System (CalSTRS).

Selection Procedure
Applications will be screened to determine which applicants meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement.

From the applicants who meet the qualifications and who have submitted all the required documents, a selection committee will determine the candidates that meet the highest degree of desirable qualifications. They will be invited to interview.

The selection committee will rate responses to the interview questions and the teaching demonstration (if applicable). Based on this rating, a small number of applicants will be selected as the “recommended candidates”. A hiring recommendation will be made by the College President or Vice Chancellor and forwarded to the Board of Trustees of State Center Community College District for final approval.
