Coordinator of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) -695200T
Job Description: The Coordinator will assist the Project Director with implementing Activity-2 of the five-year, grant-funded "Project V-Coach." This individual will work as a team with the Coordinator of Retention and Transition Services, Academic Leaders, Faculty, Student Services, Consultants and other Miami Dade College stakeholders in the advancement of the Project. Duties & Responsibilities: Expands Associate of Arts and Associate of Science program offerings, including comprehensive offerings in Math, Science and Computer Information Systems Designs and implements the (STEM) Summer Bridge Program (SBP) Develops and implements on campus and off-campus (STEM) awareness campaign Develops and oversees implementation of (STEM) learning communities Designs and implements (STEM) SLS courses Coordinates Math Faculty and Tutors through the V-Coach system Expands and improves the service learning program with a career-oriented approach Designs and implements Model Learning Outcomes Program (LOP), including training for Faculty and Tutors Develops and evaluates pilot program to measure learning in high-risk Math courses Monitors and documents Activity-2 progress Prepares quality assurance action plans in response to evaluation findings Participates in relevant college and campus subcommittees Uses general office and special software for PC and mainframe Complies with all college policies and procedures as well as pertinent State and Federal regulations Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline with six (6) years of Teaching experience in Math and Technology, Instructional Design with Math and Technology emphasis, three (3) years of which should involve curriculum development experience, including learning communities; or a Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline preferred and two (2) years Teaching experience in Math and Technology All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Trained in Learning Outcomes Development and Assessment, particularly quantitative and design methods for assessment instruments Proficient in State of Florida Math learning competencies and skills for developmental and college level Math Knowledge of training design, delivery and appraisal methods Experience with and/or knowledge of evaluating project/program effectiveness Knowledge of engagement and active learning strategies and trained in quality assurance methods Active member of relevant professional association Proficient in MS Office Suite 2003/XP and strong computer learning aptitude Strong interpersonal and communications skills Curriculum development experience in Higher Education preferred College instructional experience in a STEM discipline preferred Knowledge and/or experience with service learning preferred Knowledge of Hispanic issues related to (STEM) pedagogy preferred TEMPORARY GRANT FUNDED POSITION THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30th, 2012
