Coordinator, Educational Media/Communication
The Division of Information Technology at Florida International University is currently seeking a Coordinator, Educational Media/Communication.
Responsibilities include: The Coordinator reports directly to the Director, University Technology Services (Media & Technology Support Unit) to plan, develop, script and produce, in coordination with faculty, staff and external media professionals programs for instructional, research, administrative, public relations and promotional purposes. This individual will serve as a consultant to faculty and other administrative and professional staff in the design, production and utilization of media for classroom, research, training or promotional purposes.
In coordination with the Associate Director, the Coordinator will:
• Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures for his/her designated area of BVP.
• Assist the University community in the interpretation of BV policies and policies of other ETS departments, especially as they relate to the provision of services within the context of available resources.
• Analyze departmental requests and recommends utilization of specific media technology to meet specific instructional, research or promotional needs. Monitor adherence to national and international copyright regulations.
• Maintain daily contact with University faculty, executive administration and other professional staff, local community leaders, members of the University foundation, members of the University Board of Trustees, state.
• Write and edit scripts; consult with faculty and staff in their preparation. Develop and implement evaluation processes to identify operational and programmatic effectiveness and recommend action in the improvement of and/or the development of alternative programs.
• Research areas of new technology as they relate to the needs and demands of the University community.
• In association with the Director of Media & Technology Support and other program administrators, the Coordinator will develop long-range plans for new and expanding programs, including personnel, facilities and services; be responsible for developing and monitoring client production budgets; determine needs, prepare budget recommendations for his/her designated area, and submit to the Director of MTS; and provide statistical reports related to resource utilization.
Minimum requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Desired qualifications:
• Experience with 3CCD chip cameras including HDV technology.
• Knowledge of lighting for location and studio settings. Ability to use light-kit, studio light design, lighting for chroma. Knowledge of audio equipment and set-up.
• Experience and familiarity with the following video editing software: Final Cut Studio (Including Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor and DVD Studio Pro) and Adobe Suite (including Photoshop and After Affects).
Salary Range: Starting at $30,000 (Commensurate with experience.)
