Content Editor

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Content Editor will be responsible for managing multiple websites, which includes writing, editing, and researching content (e-mails, e-letters, banner ads), enhancing customers’ online experience, addressing user needs, and supporting the company’s brand positioning.

 

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKSCompose and develop written content for print and website applications to provide information on enterprise products, services and events to internal and external customers. Manages content of website by gathering information and integrating data from other departments. Perform peer review of documents processed internally and QA page proofs. Oversee projects through all stages of production, providing editorial review at each stage.  Work closely with technical and production staff to maintain schedules while upholding editorial standards. Communicate with authors and technical staff about level of editing and scope of their projects, deadlines, and progress of production process. Produce electronic content that reflects online usability best practices. Apply excellent editorial skills to develop copy and integrate text, design and content organization/navigation to optimize the user experience and achieve business objectives. Proactively review electronic content and recommend usability improvements.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, English Literature, Journalism or related field preferred.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSExcellent writing and editorial skills with a demonstrated knowledge of grammar, spelling and style. General understanding of Web 2.0 technologies. Excellent communications skills. Ability to organize complex documentation and other information.Ability to work on several complex editing tasks simultaneously.Able to collaborate closely with one or more writers, subject matter experts and other editors.

· Ability to handle requests with tight deadlines. Ability to take initiative in following up on projects and issues with team members. Knowledge of, and proficiency in, the entire Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with SEO best practices is a plus.  Familiarity with Medical or Healthcare websites, publications, and content a plus.
