Chief Executive Officer
An Invitation to Apply for the Position of
Chief Executive Officer
of the
New England Eye Institute,
and
Vice President of Clinical Services
at the
New England College of Optometry
Boston, Massachusetts
July 31, 2008
Â
Â
The recruitment of the New England Eye Institute CEO is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic leader and experienced health care manager.
Â
The New England Eye Institute (NEEI) is a system of eye care clinics and programs in the Greater Boston area and is now the largest non profit provider of ambulatory eye and vision care services in Massachusetts. NEEI is a subsidiary of the New England College of Optometry (the College). In 2002, NEEI was restructured as a sole member corporation to focus on its patient care mission while continuing to serve as the primary affiliate for the college’s clinical teaching mission. NEEI manages and operates two eye care centers, New England Eye Commonwealth and New England Eye Roslindale, and contracts with a number of Community Health Centers, Veterans Administration sites, Boston Medical Center, Perkins School for the Blind, Homeless programs, Senior Centers, Public Schools and other community organizations for a total of 42 practice sites.
Â
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and VP of Clinical Services will be responsible for the overall success of NEEI. The CEO will provide vision and leadership for all NEEI personnel and ensure clinical learning opportunities for the College. Duties include recruitment and development of personnel, operations, planning, program development, community relations, financial planning, fiscal accountability, fundraising, and coordination and collaboration with the College.
Â
The CEO will report to the President of the College and the NEEI Board of Directors. The CEO will provide regular updates and reports to the President, NEEI Board and other appropriate committees.
Â
The successful candidate will bring many of the following personal and professional leadership qualifications:
Demonstrated success leading and managing a complex, diverse, multi-site enterprise. Evidence of effective financial management and knowledge of health care trends, public and private health insurance, third party reimbursement, and regulatory issues. Experience and understanding of health care education. A naturally respectful, consultative, collaborative, and accessible leadership style, coupled with a willingness to lead decisively and to energize and inspire. Excellent communication, political and diplomatic skills. Energy and the maturity to balance the demands of the role.
Â
The College offers a competitive salary, performance bonus and excellent benefits.
