Charter High School Principal

Our client is the Northern Utah Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science (NUAMES), an early college charter high school located in Layton, Utah on the Weber State University Davis campus.

NUAMES is one of six early college charter high schools in Utah and serves students who reside in the Weber, Ogden, and Davis school districts, with a Fall 2008 enrollment of over 350 students in the 10th, 11th, and 12thgrades.  NUAMES enjoys a strong partnership with Weber State University and the enthusiastic support of an active, involved, and well-balanced Board of Trustees, a dedicated group of parents, and a committed, highly trained and experienced faculty.

High School Principal

Chief Administrative Officer

We are actively seeking an innovative educational leader who will be responsible for all aspects of the school program.  The Principal will report directly to the school’s Board of Trustees and will work with the board to develop and implement a shared vision and strategic direction for the school.  The principal will work extensively with a wide range of stakeholders to advance the interests of the school in the community and provide an outstanding learning environment for NUAMES students, faculty, and staff.

The goal of NUAMES is to provide a premier early college program aimed at providing Utah and the U.S. with its next generation of engineers, mathematicians and scientists.  We are in the early stages of developing the appropriate educational environment and curriculum and are seeking a Principal who can work proactively with our constituents to create a world-class charter school for our students.  In partnership with Weber State University, we are committed to providing the facilities, courses, faculty, and other resources necessary for the school to reach its full potential.  Strategic direction and school governance are provided by a Board of Trustees composed of technically astute industry and community leaders and highly motivated parental support.  The successful candidate will be given broad latitude to create an exciting learning environment that attracts students interested in seeking careers in science, mathematics, and engineering.  We believe this is a unique opportunity to create a model charter school that leads the state and the nation in preparing students for these fields.

The Principal will manage the school’s daily operations and, as the Chief Administrative Officer, will be responsible for all academic programs as well as the business operations of the school.  The Principal will carry out the policies defined by the NUAMES Board of Trustees and, as a key representative of the school, will bear the responsibility for upholding school standards and values at all times.

Academic responsibilities of the Principal include overseeing curriculum development and implementation, teacher training, program development and management, in addition to any additional duties assigned by the Board of Trustees.  Duties include oversight of the facilities, timely reporting to parents, full compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, and responsibility for human resource management. The principal also serves on the Parent Council. The Board of Trustees has the ultimate authority for approving all major budgetary, human resource, and policies.  The Principal works together with a Director of Business Operations to manage finances, facilities, and related operations.
