Catering Event Supervisor

Dining Services Duties And Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director for Crimson Catering and the Senior Catering Manager, oversees catering events for high volume off-premise collegiate caterer on Harvard's campus. Oversees management of daily events including but not limited to set-up, on-site management, and breakdown. Events range in size and scope from drop-off breaks to upscale receptions and dinners. Manages wait staff and event drivers; ensures accuracy of payroll and Kronos timekeeping system. Organizes the pull program and equipment storage spaces. Ensures proper safety and sanitation procedures in all catering areas and events. Develops a positive working relationship with catering clientele, venue site managers, and internal customers. Contributes creative insight into planning/executing events. Participates in weekly staff meetings and attends all necessary departmental trainings. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends. Performs other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: 2-4 years prior catering/banquet front-of-the-house experience Additional Qualifications: Degree in a hospitality related field with a concentration in food service management desirable; knowledge of food trends a plus. Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Familiarity with Catermate a plus. Exceptional customer service, attention to detail, organizational and communications (oral and written) skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and absorb information and details and master new skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cohesively as part of a team; handle complex and confidential information with discretion; prioritize, manage and follow through on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and under deadline pressure. Ability to communicate with highly diverse group of people and exhibit sensitivity to cultural differences. Must have valid driver's license. Additional Information: Physical Demands: Continuous walking, bending, lifting, push/pulling, and handling. Frequent standing, squatting, reaching and manual dexterity.
