DeVry University seeks a Career Services Specialist to assist our students in South Florida.

This position is located at our Miramar, Florida campus.

The Career Services Specialist advises students regarding career issues and strategies, job search methods, resume preparation, internships, employment advising and related matters. Additionally, this position builds relationships with local businesses and companies to increase the amount of potential job opportunities for DeVry students and alumni.

Essential responsibilities of this position include:

1. Conducts individual and group career advising sessions with the undergraduate population.

2. Advises students on career development and job seeking skills, provides individual feedback to students and assists with interview schedules.

3. Assists graduates in securing educationally related employment within 26 weeks of graduation through bi-weekly contact of students, resume assistance and conducting and critiquing mock interviews.

4. Ensures accurate data entry and reporting of all activity into the Interfase System, including observation cards, career advancements/employments, job development activity, etc.

5. Performs specific job development activities for entry level job leads.

6. Follows up on and maintains all job leads.

7. Participates in Advisory Boards and committees, participates in and promotes market career fairs and other University activities to local businesses and on a regional basis.

8. Participates in student/alumni activities, graduation and related events.

Education, experience, knowledge and skills required for this position include:

• A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position

• At least one year of career services or closely related experience, preferably from an educational institution, is required.

• At least one year corporate relations, corporate outreach or marketing experience is required.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.

• Strong PC skills and experience with Internet search engines are required.
