CAMPUS SECURITY OFFICER

The University of St. Thomas, a private university committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is seeking a qualified professional to serve as Campus Security Officer.

 

This individual will report to the Chief of Security and be responsible for enhancing campus security for the faculty/staff and students.  Essential responsibilities will include reviewing and completing shift reports, assisting with security of campus activities, opening/closing facilities according to facility and class schedules, handling all on-campus disturbances in accordance with UST policies and procedures, activating emergency assistance system, conducting physical walking rounds, confronting trespassers, promoting campus safety through safety programs sponsored by the department, and reporting special requests concerning safety to the Chief of Security.

 

The position requires 2 years of experience as a Security Guard, preferably in a higher education environment or a school system and a valid Texas Driver’s License. This individual must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, a cellular phone and two-way radio, to visually identify and accurately describe persons/incidents and be able to testify in legal proceedings, and to work after hours and on weekends.
