WyoTech  - Sacramento, CA campusReq#: 08-1059General Duties: To obtain materials for Allied Health and Automotive classes from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need to meet company goals. Purchases assigned materials and services at lowest prices in accordance with established procedures and requirements for quality, quantity, delivery and inventory levels. Perform product research to obtain information required for initial negotiation of a contract related to goods and services to meet school needs. Initiate and develop new opportunities and alternative strategies for procurement services for any relevant commodity areas to benefit the company. Work closely with internal departments to obtain specifications necessary to accomplish specific projects related to program needs. Solicits and analyzes quotations for new and existing items. Evaluates and selects best-qualified primary and alternative sources of supply. Aggressively pursues cost reduction and avoidance goals incorporating techniques of value analysis, price/cost analysis, standardization analysis and make or buy analysis. Develop strong business relationships with key Suppliers at both local and national levels to ensure that target improvements in pricing and service are achieved. Address supplier performance issues, uncompetitive or incorrect pricing, delivery lead-time problems, quality or service issues. Initiate and develop new opportunities and alternative strategies for procurement services for any relevant commodity areas to benefit the company. Coordinate with appropriate accounting staff on payment of invoices, resolving discrepancies, and billing follow-up. Achieve operational targets agreed with Corporate Director of Purchasing for the commodity areas covered. Place all equipment purchase orders, expedite and track shipments. Performs other duties as assigned or as required. Requirements: Bachelor?s degree required. 5 years effective and relevant purchasing experience. Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be detailed oriented and organized. Knowledge in Word and Access preferred. Ability to multi-task, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to make decisions in accordance with procedures, laws and regulations and to apply these to work problems. Must have strong computer experience using Excel. Knowledge in Word and Access preferred.
