Bus Driver
POSITION SUMMARY
Transports children and/ or staff to schools, field trips, and other locations as approved by the Site
Director or Area Manager. Provides supervision and direction to children.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meets expectations for delivering customer acquisition and retention, quality transportation,
financial management, operational compliance, and other responsibilities as well as
demonstrates expected behaviors.
• Transports children and staff.
• Provides care, support, direction, and supervision to children.
• May engage with current and prospective parents and family members and is responsive to
their needs.
• Complies with CCLC and all governmental regulations regarding the care of children.
• Keeps the Manager informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of
children.
• Understands responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
• Completes timely and accurate documentation according to CCLC and other licensing or
regulation requirements.
• Assists and accepts responsibility in other daily site duties that might be temporary in the event
other personnel are not available.
• May be required to transport site vehicle for servicing (oil change, state inspections, etc.).
• Attends and participates in all staff meetings, site events, and parent/customer meetings as
requested.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (For Competent Performance)
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ years of experience transporting children highly desirable
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency situation required
• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
• CDL highly desirable
• Ability to be flexible in assignment and work hours required
• Good verbal, listening, and written communication skills required
EDUCATION:
• Current driver’s license required with no more than 3 moving violations in past three years (no
alcohol or drug related convictions).
• Ability to drive site vehicles
• CPR and First Aid certification required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds
• Stand up to 95% of the day
• Assume postures in low level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children
• Bend to perform various task numerous times throughout the day
• Stoop, sit on the floor
• Have the agility to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to
emergency situations
• Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, run, etc. for extended periods of time
• Incumbent will need to be flexible and to be able to respond quickly and appropriately to
changing situations
• Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the children
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Work is primarily performed in the site environment, and transporting children in a van and/ or
bus. Sites are dynamic with a high level of activity. Work is also performed at (including
driving to and from) community sites for field trips.
