At Pontiac Academy for Excellence we strive to provide a quality education for inner-city children and their families. PAE offers a variety of support services from reading and math recovery to special education, as well as a variety of extra curricular activities.
Pontiac Academy for Excellence opened its doors in the fall of 2000. Our enrollment has steadily grown and is now around 1100 students in our K-12th grade programs. We have been recognized by the Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA) is one of the most progressive charter schools in the state of Michigan.

POSITON: Building Security
Â
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Investigate questionable activity; monitor campus access; make appropriate referrals to administration concerning unacceptable behavior and provide input to ensure a safe and secure environment. Conduct security patrols around buildings, parking lots, and school grounds. Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, unsafe conditions, and other security hazards; i.e., unlocked doors, windows, etc. Write up work orders for maintenance concerns that are security related; i.e, doors that will not close automatically, broken locks, and submit them to the appropriate building personnel. Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at building entrance before and after school. Protect school’s assets from theft. Take appropriate action against violators of rule infractions, state statutes or federal laws. Work closely with law enforcement to solve and prosecute crimes on school property. Prepare detailed written reports of investigation that accurately and concisely document all incidents/accidents that occur on property owned/rented, controlled or maintained by the school. Confidentiality will be strictly maintained over all documents and communications that may be prepared or transmitted for the school. Provide technical assistance, within capabilities, to all building personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate authority within the scope of the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Â Â Â
Post secondary education or experience in security, criminal justice, or law enforcement.
Prefer an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement. Combination of training and experience may be substituted for formal education.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Special training in identifying school related risks, proper security in school lock down procedures, and school crisis action planning and implementation
