Budget Analyst

This position is the primary budget office contact for as many as 55-60 academic and/or administrative units,with respect to their administrative and faculty teaching budgets.

Oversee correct posting of this budget information to Peoplesoft budget system, the Labor Accounting system and to the general ledger. Analyze various budget and labor accounting issues with departments; develop reporting requirements to meet business demands. Provide analytical support as needed for the Priorities Committee budget cycle and to the Budget Office as a whole. Serve as a liaison through UFINSI to OIT to report changes and needs for Labor Accounting and budget systems and reports.

Teaching Budget:
Serve as budget office liaison for academic units' Faculty Teaching Budget and Assistant in Instruction graduate student support budgets. Primary responsibility for analyzing these budgets using Labor Accounting, Peoplesoft budget system and Peoplesoft financials. Review budget variances for all units as required. Coordinate faculty teaching budget data with Dean of Faculty, academic units, and Budget Director throughout budget cycle.

Academic Departmental Allowance:
Administer academic departmental allowances for approximately 55 departments. Ensure accurate posting and allocation of budgets in Peoplesoft budget system and PS financials. Budget vs. actual variance analysis. Analyze term funding and one-time funding arrangements. Track benchmarking formula data from Registrar and other sources to support yearly budget review by Provost, Dean of Faculty, and Financial Vice President. During close of fiscal year, work with all departments to resolve any deficits. Prepare academic departmental savings analysis and prepare funding transfers at year end.

Labor Accounting Analysis:
Support Labor Accounting (LA) system, coordinate flow of salary data between payroll, PeopleSoft Financials, Budget and Human Resources systems. Advise departmental users on LA policies and provide specialized training on business use when necessary.

Work with central programming and financial reporting offices to audit reporting and system issues; participate in design and testing of periodic LA system rewrites/upgrades/revisions.

Reconciliations, Reporting and Special Projects:
Reconcile and provide reporting for Science fund, President's Fund and Provost Fund. Additional budget Analysis and special projects as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of four to six years of related work experience

The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.
