William & Mary Diederich College of Communication beginning Fall 2009. The department emphasizes three areas of instruction: news, entertainment, and media studies. The college's facilities for broadcast instruction include two digital television studios, eight video editing suites, three audio studios, and computer graphics platforms. These facilities are used as classrooms and laboratories by students pursuing degrees in broadcast and electronic communication and also by students participating in MUTV and/or MUR, the student operated campus television and radio stations. The J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication includes departments of journalism, advertising/public relations, communication studies, and performing arts, as well as broadcast and electronic communication. A $28 million gift from the Diederichs has made possible renovation of Johnston Hall, the college's home; up-to-date laboratory and studio technology; and generous support for faculty development and travel. Marquette is an urban Catholic, Jesuit university dedicated to principles of excellence, leadership, faith, and service.
