Associate Vice President/Chief Information Officer
This is a full-time management appointment. No permanent status is granted. All managers work "at will" for the president of the university. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a fingerprint background check.
California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a student body of over 12,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The Administration and Finance Division’s Information Technology Department serves the University and its mission by designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining state-of-the-art administrative systems and technology services to students, faculty, and staff. The IT Department works with a wide range of campus departmental units, which develop, coordinate, evaluate and implement effective programs, projects, and services designed to enhance the University’s functions in a wide variety of areas.
Major Job duties: Under the general direction of the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Associate Vice President (AVP)/Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Information Technology is responsible for advancing the educational mission of the University through strategic planning, program development, and overall coordination for all aspects of enterprise information technology. The AVP/CIO also provides leadership and guidance in the areas of information technology effectiveness and efficiency, information/data security, and accessibly technology. The AVP/CIO is responsible for developing information resources in support of campus decision-making related to operational effectiveness and efficiency, and is responsible for providing oversight to multiple technology departments, which provide management and operation of shared information systems infrastructure, including academic and administrative computing services, and network services. The AVP/CIO serves as the campus Information Security Officer responsible for protecting the confidentiality of information in the custody of the campus; the security of the equipment where this information is processed and maintained; and, the related privacy rights of the students, faculty and staff concerning this information
By providing strategic direction and management for the I T Department, the AVP/CIO has responsibility for producing official information technology information for the campus, disseminating data to the campus community, Chancellor's Office, and any external agencies, including state, regional, and national organizations, and for investigating selected educational information technology issues.
Qualifications: At least ten years experience of successful and progressively responsible information/computer experience, at least five of which is at a senior level management/administrator with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with a bachelor's degree.
Or
At least seven years experience of successful and progressively responsible information/computer experience, at least five of which is at a senior level management/administrator with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience with a masters degree.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business/public administration, computer science, or a related degree with at least ten years experience of successful and progressively responsible information/computer experience, at least five of which is at a senior level management/administrator with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Or
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in business/public administration, computer science, or a related degree with at least seven years experience of successful and progressively responsible information/computer experience, at least five of which is at a senior level management/administrator with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Salary and benefits: The salary range is: $4,948.00 - $15,698.00. Salary will commensurate with experience. Full health insurance package provided and fixed benefit retirement program available.
