Assistant Teachers

Olive Crest is seeking experienced Assistant Teachers to assist the teachers in the education and supervision of students in the classroom as well as transport the students to and from school.  They will assist in record keeping, photocopying, tutoring and behavior modification as needed.The assistant teacher may also substitute teach in the absence of the Master Teacher if he/she has a sub permit.Duties Include:1. Transport students from their homes to school in the mornings and home after school in the afternoons as required by supervisor.2. Report any serious discipline problems that occur on the van to the Director and follow behavior modification plans as directed.3. Assure that the vehicle is properly maintained and fill with gasoline when needed. 4. Assist teachers as needed, which may include individual and group tutorial, monitoring the time-out room, supervising the class for teacher breaks, monitoring students' lunch and restroom breaks, photocopying worksheets, shopping for student rewards, assisting on field trips, etc.5. In cooperation with the teacher, interface with case managers, school personnel, parents, therapists and community agencies.6. Participate in staff in-service meetings, and all regular staff meetings.7. Provide stable role model.Qualifications Include:1. BA/BS in a Human Service field or Education or related experience.2. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by T.E.C.'s insurance carrier.3. First Aid/CPR certification.4. Ability to speak and write in English.5. Ability to intervene in a physical way during crisis situations with minors up to 18 years of age.6. Proficiency in basic academic areas and the ability to tutor special needs students successfully.7.
