Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology

The Department of Psychology of the College of Staten Island, a senior college of The City University of New York, invites applications for an anticipated tenure-track appointment of Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology to begin September 2009.

A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to: demonstrating excellence in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate students; developing an original, independent program of research; and working effectively within a diverse university community.  Successful candidates will need to be licensed or soon to qualify for licensure in New York State.  Practitioner experience is important: we are seeking a wide range of areas of specialization so all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. We anticipate offering a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling beginning in September 2009.  Faculty responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in general and counseling psychology, clinical supervision, publication of research, and departmental and college service.

Our 16 person department represents all major psychology areas and in addition to the anticipated Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, we also participate in a Master’s Program in Neuroscience.  The 204-acre landscaped campus of CSI, the largest in New York City, contains an advanced, networked infrastructure to support technology-based teaching, learning, and research; a student Counseling Center; research laboratories; and excellent relationships with the Staten Island mental health community.  Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2008 and continue until the position is filled.  Salary range for Assistant Professor is $52,144 - $67,092; commensurate with experience.

Send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, a writing sample and one syllabus for a graduate level course related to your area of specialization to:
