Assistant Director of Early Childhood Program

We are seeking an Assistant Director to join our administrative team in providing leadership to our staff and families, and to assist with the day-to-day operations of the school.  The Assistant Director must have excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.  She or he must have an in-depth knowledge of child development and the principles of early childhood education, and particular familiarity with an emergent curriculum and the Reggio Emilia approach.  The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director in carrying out the school’s mission, overseeing daily operations, coordinating the admissions process, maintaining school records, hiring, supervising and supporting staff, overseeing and creating curriculum, and assisting in the classroom when needed.The ability to work independently, problem-solve, and collaborate with others is essential.  Successful candidates will have a proven record of leadership, professionalism in relationships with colleagues and families, and supervisory experience in an early childhood setting.  The Assistant Director position is a multi-faceted job that involves working with children, parents, teachers, administrators, and board members.  AHNS is a friendly, upbeat work environment with room for advancement as we grow. Requirements: Lead Teacher Certification from the Department of Early Education and Care. Associate or Bachelor degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Child Development,Developmental Psychology or related field. Five  years of experience working in an Early Childhood setting, two of which should include staff supervisory and program development experience.
