Assistant Director of Career Services - Arts, Nonprofit & Public Sector
The Office of Career Services at Princeton University seeks an energetic individual to counsel undergraduate/graduate students and alumni about career development issues including concentrations/skills/interests, internships/post graduation employment options and career transitions. The position has an additional focus in developing and implementing programming, outreach, and employer/job development for Creative Writing, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Nonprofit, and the Public Sector. The individual will also actively participate in program planning and outreach efforts in collaboration with academic departments, residential colleges, student organizations, and campus partners.
Essential Qualifications
This position requires a graduate degree in career counseling, higher education, or a related area, and at least 1-3 years of responsible career development experience and knowledge of Creative Writing, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Nonprofit, and the Public Sector.
Required qualifications include: working knowledge of career and student development theory; demonstrated counseling skills including the ability to administer and interpret individual interest, skills, abilities, and values assessment instruments (e.g., SII, MBTI, StrengthsQuest); the capacity for effective collaboration and communication with students, faculty, administrators and employers; initiative and creative reasoning/thinking abilities; the ability to handle multiple priorities and effective project management skills; exceptional communication and presentation skills; and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member.
Knowledge of a variety of career fields, experience with information technology; familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), content management systems for web content (e.g., Roxen, Drupal), Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and social media tools is highly desirable.
