Description:The Assessment Director is responsible for providing the overall direction and leadership of alternative credit programs supported by a portfolio development course and the subsequent portfolio assessment process. The Director is responsible for the integrity of the prior learning assessment program and the process through which prior learning is assessed for college level credit administered by KAO. A high degree of coordination is required with Academic Deans, Registrars office, and PLAC to maintain an up-to-date review process enabling the student to earn university credit for knowledge gained outside the traditional classroom. The Assessment Director effectively directs the process through which experiential learning portfolios are developed and assessed for credit as measured by the number and percentage of students participating in, and completing. In this role the Assessment Director is responsible for the management of an appeals process through which students may appeal a denial of credit.The Assessment Director is responsible for leading the coordination of programs and services which maximize effective collaboration between and among academic and service departments, the Office of Prior Learning Assessment, and KAO.The Assessment Director is responsible for developing and maintaining long-range organizational and internal promotional plans for Prior Learning Assessment, including workshops for faculty and staff. The Assessment Director is responsible for developing and implementing training and mentoring programs designed to provide and assure quality of assessment, including CAEL certification, of faculty and other subject matter experts who are selected to assess experiential learning portfolios and recommend awards of college level credit. Success in this area will be measured by the number of CAEL certified subject matter experts available for use in the portfolio assessment process.The Assessment Director is responsible for the development and publishing of regular metric reports as needed by the academic leaders and perform analyses to assess institutional effectiveness.
