New York Law School, founded 1891, is a freestanding institution with approximately 1500 students in its full- and part-time J.D. Program.

 

New York Law School seeks an Annual Fund Manager who will oversee and implement all the fundraising activities related to the Law School’s direct mail program including renewal and acquisition mailings for annual donors and prospects as well as regular phon-a-thon campaigns.  The Annual Fund Manager also has primary responsibility for drafting the annual Development and Alumni Relations budget, working with senior staff to implement the budget, and monitoring the department’s budgeted income and expenses.  In addition, the Annual Fund Manager supervises the Donor Records Specials.  This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Development.

 

The Annual Fund Manager will be responsible for the following:

  Manage on-going direct mail appeals for renewal and acquisition mailings for annual giving, and identify strategies to advance levels of Annual Giving.  Develop and implement testing strategies to increase response, retention and giving levels. Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to ensure integrated communications and messaging for the Law School.  Also collaborate with Director of Major Gifts on strategies for upgrading donors to the major gifts level. Develop and meet deadlines on copy for appeals and supporting materials. Supervise creation, input and maintenance of appeal records, including the computer data base and hardcopy files for individuals and major gifts. Manage creation, updating and testing of solicitation and acknowledgement letters. Manage and track the sustaining givers program. Draft the annual Development and Alumni Relations budget, work with senior staff to implement the budget, and monitor the department’s budgeted income and expenses. Supervise Donor Records Specialist. Provide regular reports on status and performance of annual giving appeals to the Associate and Assistant Deans for Development. Other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Dean.

Special Education/Experience or Other Requirements

  Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years in development/fund-raising, with direct mail and database management experience. Some supervisory experience required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Raiser’s Edge. Ability to work effectively with colleagues. Must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure
