Position Summary:
The Assistant Director for chapter programs will be responsible for all chapter programming which includes launching and managing a renewed chapter program; handling volunteer recruitment, management and retention; setting and managing the chapter budgets and supporting other initiatives of the Office of Alumni Relations. 

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Creating program calendar and executing events; Managing events follow-up; Developing program Web site;  Marketing chapter programs to alumni;  Rolling out chapter handbooks to chapter teams;  Identifying and recruiting potential chapter leadership in collaboration with the Alumni and Young Alumni Boards;  Maintaining ongoing and up-to-date chapter volunteer lists and requests for assignments;  Overseeing the regional committee of the Alumni Board;  Creating program budget and other budget and program documentation and communications as needed.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of three years work experience is required.

Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, customer service, communication and interpersonal skills as candidate will be called on to make “cold calls” to recruit volunteers and to provide leadership to volunteers. 

Candidates must demonstrate highly developed organizational skills and must be able to think creatively in regard to event and budget management.  Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.  Some travel and occasional work on weekends and evenings is required.

Experience working with volunteers or as a volunteer is preferred.  Knowledge of SMU traditions and culture a plus.  Experience working in a fast-paced team environment preferred.  Work experience in higher education and/or with a nonprofit a plus.  Experience managing events is a plus.
