Allied Health Chair
DescriptionPosition Summary:The Allied Health Program Chair assumes primary responsibility for the leadership, development, improvement, and delivery of education services for the assigned education program. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: program instructor and staff supervision and training; curriculum, course syllabi, and lesson plan development designed to meet course objectives, externship site recruitment, development, and supervision; appropriate involvement in community activities; Advisory Board leadership and development, and professional development. The Allied Health Program Chair may be required to teach a course or courses based on program need and enrollment. The Allied Health Chair must meet accrediting agency, state and federal standards for formal education and certification and licensing requirements. The Allied Health Chair maintains the highest levels of quality, customer relations and student satisfaction as a model and mentor to program instructors and in order to retain and successfully graduate students. RequirementsPrimary Responsibilities1. Under the guidance of the Director of Education, recruit, interview, train and supervise program instructors. 2. Provide orientation and assistance to new instructors 3. Ensure that all program instructors adhere to required administrative and classroom delivery duties and requirements 4. Ensure completeness of instructor files including transcripts, evidence of professional development, and observation and performance reviews 5. Provide leadership and support to full-time and part-time day and evening instructors and supervise their instructional program needs 6. Observe classes within program area and coach instructors to inprove on a continual basis instructional presentation and classroom management skills. 7. Conduct regularly scheduled faculty meetings for both day and evening instructors. 8. Provide departmental product knowledge to other departments as requested including product knowledge, employment trends, changes in needed courses and program specialty areas 9. Provide leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, review, maintenance, and effectiveness of program's curriculum. 10. Promote faculty participation and provide leadership in the professional development activities of program faculty members. 11. Assist Admissions Department with student recruitment as needed. 12. Participate in professional organizations within the community. 13. Coordinate Advisory Board activities of local industry representatives. Recruit new members as needed. 14. Review, evaluate, and recommend new instructional materials, hardware, and software for the program and the Library/Resource Center. 15. Assist Career Services Department with prospective employer leads, job openings, and job placement of students and graduates. 16. With assigned faculty, supervise students in externship program. 17. Regularly contact externship sites for evaluation of student progress. 18. Advise externship sites on needs of the program, required supervision of students, and required paperwork to ensure compliance of all local, state, federal, accreditation, and school laws, rules and regulations. 19. Conduct evaluations of site by student survey 20. Conduct evaluations of externship students by site survey. 21. Maintain regular contact with all day and evening students within the program. 22. Refer students to appropriate staff for non-academic problem resolution. 23. Participate in student orientationand awards events 24. Attend student graduation. 25. Contact students who are not meeting attendance policies. 26. Advise students who are failing to meet academic requirements. 27. Provide or arrange for student tutoring as needed. 28. Sponsor an active student club related to the program area and encourage student participation in professional organizations within their field. 29. Assist in conducting student satisfaction assessments and surveys as needed. 30. Ensure compliance of all local, state, federal, accreditation, and school laws, rules and regulations. 31.
