Afterschool Counselor
The YMCA Children Services - Afterschool branch is hiring energetic, outgoing people to work in our Afterschool programs. Counselors are responsible for the daily supervision of a group of 15 children. They plan and implement activities for the children involved in the YMCA Afterschool program. Candidates must enjoy working with children ages 5-12 and be able to work in multiple settings such as school cafeterias and playgrounds.Â

Requirements:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Must be at least 18 years old. Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bilingual, (English and Spanish or English and Creole) a plus. Must be able to assist children with homework in the English language. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must enjoy interacting and communicating with children and parents. Must complete the 40 hour child care course within 1 year of employment.Â
