Position Summary
Under the supervision and direction of the Center Dean and Associate Director of Admissions – DVUC, assists in the management of a DeVry University Center Admissions Office. Participates in the implementation of student recruitment strategies and the management of resources in order to meet performance expectations. Provides leadership in the execution of the business plan, the control of expenses and other managerial functions, as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists in the development, direction and coordination of Admissions Office activities in accomplishing its collective team goals and objectives.
2. In conjunction with the Center Dean and Associate Director of Admissions, ensures that objectives, goals, plans, budgets, policies, practices and actions produce desired student recruitment results, consistent with the overall mission and strategic plan for the Admissions Office.
3. Participates in the development and execution of both short-term and long-term student recruitment strategy at the campus level to ensure the Company’s growth and profitability objectives and implements approved programs.
4. Ensures quality hires and manages compensation and performance management programs to stay within the salary budget.
5. Collaborates in directing the staffing, training, and performance evaluations of the Admissions team in the Admissions Office.
6. Participates in the development of an annual student recruitment plan for the campus and ensures the achievement of the approved plan.
7. Develops and prepares for approval the Admissions Office’s policies and programs and, as directed, conducts audits and reviews results to ensure conformance with same.
8. Maintains an effective system of communication and teamwork throughout the Office.
9. Oversees to ensure that all Admissions operations are in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations along with the Company’s policies and procedures.
10. Handles all phases of admissions process and is responsible for personal and team generating of prospective student enrollments.
11. Serves as a mentor to other Advisors in order to train and develop them into top performing team members.
12. As directed, delegates responsibilities of the Admissions staff to ensure that policies and decisions are properly discharged at all levels of the Office.
13. Carries out supervisory responsibilities which include the following: planning, assigning, and directing work of subordinates; appraising their performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
14. Ensures that all Admissions personnel are trained to perform their jobs effectively and in a team-oriented manner.
15. Ensures that morale of Admissions personnel is positive and provides for a viable organization in order to meet its commitments.
16. Provides personal leadership that encourages employee productivity and responsiveness to the needs of the Admissions Office.
17. Effectively trains new staff and provides motivation to achieve and maintain a high level of productivity and moral.
18. Creates a climate that is proactive and personally is involved in helping staff achieve their recruiting goals.
19. Conducts team meetings in order to motivate, encourage and discuss key issues and concern with staff.
20. Builds, maintains and encourages productive working relationships with staff.
21. Stimulates employees to achieve desired results through positive attitudes and methods.
22. Handles related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Four-year college degree, advanced degree desirable. Must have a proven track record of successful recruitment with a minimum of two-three years of direct experience. Keen mind, excellent negotiator with a strong work ethic; has high energy and is committed team player with excellent leadership capabilities; must have ability to train and develop subordinates. Must have a strong personal presence with excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must have high integrity and solid business acumen. Must be proficient with personal computers.
