Under general direction, you will handle complex accounting and internal self-audit assignments involving interpreting and implementing existing accounting and fiscal policies and procedures, preparing and reviewing complex financial records, performing self-audit of financial transactions, analyzing and interpreting accounting data, preparing reports, making recommendations for improvements and reviewing  financial transactions to ensure compliance. Typical duties and responsibilities will include managing all aspects of the College's depreciable and non-depreciable capital asset database and preparing accounting transactions in compliance with GASB 34/35, reconciling bank accounts with a high volume of activity, balancing the monthly payroll expenditures to the payroll register, identifying weaknesses in internal control systems and preparing various year-end audit schedules.

 To qualify, you should have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, and a minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience, including 2 years in accounting for the full-cycle of depreciable and non-depreciable capital assets and experience completing complex bank account and other asset and liability reconciliations, G/L account analysis or equivalent. A self-starter with a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and government standards and procedures is essential, as is the ability to execute established procedures, analyze financial and accounting data and transactions and make sound decisions. You must also be able to propose and document journal entries, prepare account statements and reports, prioritize tasks, meet established deadlines, interpret/translate complex accounting standards and write corresponding procedures in layperson terms. Excellent communication, collaboration and problem solving skills are required, along with a dedication to the principles of continuous improvement, the ability to critically analyze information to make recommendations for improvements and proficiency in the advance operation of MS Outlook/Excel/ Word and FTP. Experience using Datatel's Colleague financial software and data retrieval system and knowledge of database management skills/techniques and internal audit programs are desired.

 

This opportunity offers an annual hiring salary range of $42,636-$59,694 commensurate with experience and an excellent fringe benefits package.
