MGA Entertainment, a consumer entertainment products company, is searching for a VPof Licensing to join our team! POSITION SUMMARY
As VP of Licensing, individual is responsible for creating, maintaining and growing Domestic and ROW international licensing programs for various MGA brand initiatives. Individual needs strong negotiating skills to bring in profitable licenses that fit various brand portfolios and build cohesive strategies to ensure a global brand statement, all while addressing company goals. The VP of Licensing independently supervises the worldwide brand management/product development team and Domestic and ROW Sales team. The VP is responsible for planning and building a forecast, operational budget and meeting set profit goals. In addition, the VP is responsible for creating and execution of consumer products marketing/promotional strategies that may be implemented on a localized or global level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESObtain Annual Licensing Forecasts for Domestic & ROW partners and evaluate year-on-year. Update the forecast on a quarterly basis to ensure accurate deliverables by year-end.Develop and implement marketing/promotional opportunities to drive consumer products placement at retail and ultimately increase licensing revenue.Develop, implement and supervise new system development for the Licensing division – consisting of on-line style guide, on-line approvals and on-line contract port.Direct and oversee the Licensing marketing/promotional function and corporate strategies to identify and develop new categories and/or incremental opportunities for existing partners. Research, develop and execute strategies and plans which identify sales, product development, marketing and promotional opportunities. Develop and manage licensing departmental operating budgets. Meet with retailers on an as-needed basis to promote the company and brands – as it pertains to consumer products categories.Promote positive relations with licensees and retailers.Identify the best, key-licensing partners for our properties. Bring to conclusion profitable and strategic licenses that fit our various brands according to the company policies.Oversee the negotiation of and approval of Licensing Deal Memos for Domestic and ROW territories – as well as ROW Agency Renewals.Ensure Licensee compliance based on contractual terms such as royalty reporting, audits, forecasting, marketing and product development.Coordinate and follow up with internal accounting department on credit approvals, invoices, royalty reporting, late payment notifications and audits.Oversee the worldwide licensing product approval department to ensure the licensed product strictly meets our brand strategy and quality standards.Direct Licensing Consumer Products style guide needs according to brands and seasonal strategies.Review style guide assets to ensure brand compliance and adherence to consumer products needs. Direct licensees selling cycle and methodology and implement an annual style guide calendar for retail consistency worldwide.Supervise the planning and development of licensing marketing and communications materials.Create and update relevant power points tailored for specific promotional/entertainment initiatives, licensee retail meetings and prospective licensee use and informationRepresent the company at various business meetings to promote the company and its brands. Plan, Direct and supervise the preparation and execution of Licensing exhibits, summits and promotional programs. Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations. Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff. DEGREE OF SUPERVISION· Manages a sales team of 3, brand management team of 12 and 1 executive assistant.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONFour-year college degree required; MBA preferred MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERREDMinimum 6 -8 years experience in licensing properties and running a successful licensing department.Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and management.Knowledge of structuring sales and brand management expectations. Experience in planning sales and marketing strategies.Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
