Transportation Logistics Manager

Transportation & Logistics Role

 

The purpose of the transportation and logistics manager is to manage, negotiate, plan, coordinate and report on all the transportation and 3PL (3rd Party logistics and distribution service providers) related activities at Café Bom Dia Headquarters.. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Freight

 

Provide key transportation and freight support coordination to ensure timely order management - shipment on time, complete and accurate.

 

· Manage transportation of all International Ocean and air freight negotiations at competitive freight rates, to ensure the timeliness of all deliveries required. 

· Manage all inland freight negotiations with service providers at competitive rates, to ensure the delivery of all customer orders complete / on time.

· Manage relationships with brokers (Negotiate rates, monitor service levels & track accuracy and on time performance)

· Ensure accuracy of import duties

· Oversee routing & rating of import shipments

· Track & coordinate shipments to insure timely & accurate flow of merchandise

· Partner with business units to produce cost reduction methods and improved services initiatives.

·  Ensure all documentation & declarations are accurate & in compliance with regulations / trade agreements

· Develop global transportation tracking, monitoring performance on a regular basis and coordinating with other functional areas as necessary to implement changes that ensure budgetary targets are achieved.

· Develop and validate the integrity of key service and financial metrics, continually improving metrics, reporting processes and SOP development.

· Maintain and report on all logistics and freight account administration as appropriate, to keep all supply chain stakeholders informed about logistics data / metrics.  Manage all activities associated with product liability and insurance, to ensure a readiness with all insurance documents / documentation.  Monthly, analyze and report on ocean & inland freight costs to chart trends / changes in freight cost structures.

· Create a pipeline of ideas that continuously improve results in: transportation and transportation cost, and on-time delivery

· Build an efficient and cost effective global carrier network using your selection and negotiation expertise.

· Assist with resolving system related delays and product set up issues.

· In-depth command and application of all laws (domestic and international), regulations, rulings and acts pertaining to the import/ export of materials including products and software and all associated record keeping requirements.

· In-depth command and application of proper Tariff Classification and Valuation processes and In-depth command and application of pricing/cost theories and practices.

· Review and audit freight bills for accuracy

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

 

 

Warehousing and operations coordination

 

Manage all inland warehousing negotiations with warehouse / logistics service suppliers, to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all receiving, storage, inventory and order management functions. In coordination with Product Planning in Brazil and Demand Panning in Coral Gables, interface with Colcafe, Cascade & SWC to ensure that any / all inventory and production related issues are addressed in a timely manner.

 

 Works with 3PL providers to ensure that material is received, handled, stored, accounted for, and shipped in a timely and accurate manner and complies with prerequisite Café Bom Dia customer service objectives.Ensures 3PL providers are providing accurate and timely documentation for all receiving, storage, and shipping activities.

· Develop Implement and deploy and effective Receiving: Inventory management; cycle count, spot and semi-annual inventories for all stored goods at various holding facilities

· Develop and validate the integrity of key service and financial metrics, continually improving metrics, reporting processes and SOP development. Coordinate with Purchasing and Production, and monitor inbound raw material shipments.Measure & Report monthly 3PL performance to corporate objectivesInvestigate and resolve all shipping related customer complaints and claimsInterface with Customer online systems to communicate shipment information Monitor and report to all fiscal & budgetary objectivesResponsible for the Performance Management of all direct reports.

 

Customer Service

 

Provide support for the Café Bom Dia International Customer Service department as required, to ensure ongoing and timely order management.

 

Cross Functional Support

 

Provide back up support to other Café Bom Dia personnel as needed to ensure effective business execution across all business disciplines.

 

 

Matrix Teamwork

 

 Coordinate all Logistics and warehousing functional support with other Café Bom Dia key “demand chain” functional areas (sales, marketing, finance, and operations, planning) to ensure success with all key deliverables.

 

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Survey, monitor, and report on logistics, warehousing and shipping service related issues and ensure that we are capturing related data to support the analytics related activity.Provides phone support as needed to cover breaks, vacations, etc. The employee may be asked to perform other duties as required by business needs

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Three to five years or more experience in transportation and/or logistics management required.Knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and automotive just-in-time (JIT) delivery operations needed.Must have highly developed leadership, management, communication (written & verbal) organizational, interpersonal, teambuilding, and customer service skills.Must be versatile and able to work in a fast pace environment, think on your feet and make sound decisions quickly. Expert knowledge of ground transportation operations including DOT regulations is essential.Must have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.Must have computer proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), and working knowledge.Flexible and adaptable to quick-changing environmentStrong interpersonal skills: Professional, courteous, friendly, warm, empathetic, level-headed and composed. Using basic business mathematics, including percentages, decimals, and application of basic formulasStrong problem-solving skills and ability to make swift, sound judgments. Adapting to change; adjusting plans and actions in response to changes in information and opportunitiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks based on changing business needs 

 

Administrative Assistant Qualifications

Key qualifications for the successful candidate will include:

o  Minimum 5 years of administrative experience in a business office environment.

o  Minimum 5 years of distribution/import and warehousing experience.

o  Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.

o  Positive attitude with orientation to get things done.

o  Possess ability to adapt to rapid change on an ongoing basis.

o  High degree of proficiency with computer technology & Microsoft Office software.

o Sense of humor.
