Target MP3 / Portable Audio Category Captain

General Responsibilities: The Target Category Captain will assist and direct the Target buying team in understanding the current market landscape technology innovations product performance and new product/category opportunities to help guide the buying decisions. The category captain will lead the charge in analyzing evaluating and proposing long-term strategies to grow the MP3 / portable audio business for Target. The position is with Belkin but is responsible for the performance of Target as a company not specific to Belkin products.The MP3 / portable audio category includes but is not limited to the following main subcategories:· MP3 players (iPod Zune Samsung etc.)· Power solutions for MP3· In Car solutions for MP3· Headphones· Docking speakers· Cases/protective products· Connectivity solutionsSpecific Responsibilities:· Continuous evaluation on market trends and product performance· Recommending space allocations promotional vehicles advertising campaigns and product assortment· Monitor sell-thru and provide specific action plans to improve profitability· Competitive analysis for Target (Wal-Mart Best Buy Circuit City Apple Store etc.)· Weekly review of category performanceSpecific Competencies:· Sell-thru/profit analysis· Market share analysis· Product evaluation / Trend analysis and recommendation· Plan-o-gram layout / Space analysis· Merchandising / Advertising / PromotionsEducation and Experience Requirements:· 4-year degree in marketing finance or related field MBA preferred· Proven track record in statistical analysis· Expertise in Microsoft Excel· Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint· Excellent written and oral communication skills· Minimum 5+ years experience in similar roleMore About Belkin International Inc.:Great Work Environment – Our growth and success is based on our most important asset: our employees.
