Staff Accountant

Summary: Work as a team member within the Accounting/Finance department performing general accounting duties. Journalize accounting entries to ensure timely month end closing and taking charge of assigned tasks and seeing them through completion.

·  Accounting Degree from a four year college and a minimum of three to four years accounting experience

·  Strong communication and organizational skills

·  Detail oriented, ability to be flexible and adhere to tight deadlines

·  Focused on personal development and interested in Learning Animal Health Division business as well as developing an understanding of the accounting/finance perspectives with which we analyze, report and grow our business

 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·  Maintain fixed assets in General Ledger and sub ledger (FAS)

·  Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

·  Maintain Prepaid Expense accounts

·  Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare audit schedules

·  Prepare and enter journal entries during the month

·  Maintains intercompany accounts with all of the various legal entities of Alpharma (AHD) Inc.

·  Work with sales and marketing directors to ensures that the transaction accounting for sales and marketing accruals and certain rebate programs are appropriate

·  Submit positive pay upload to company’s banks

·  Approve new suppliers and customers that are set up in JD Edwards (JDE)

·   Act as liaison personnel with Continental Airlines, update records with new employee information and prepare monthly travel and entertainment accrual

·  Work with the company’s Asia Pacific and Latin American entities to ensure accurate and reasonable monthly commission accrual

·  Assist with verification of monthly KHALIX schedules

 

Education and/or experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) in accounting, minimum of three to four years related experience preferably in a manufacturing company.
