Sr. Linux/UNIX Systems Engineer
Our client located in Torrance, CA has a contract to hire opportunity for a Senior Linux/UNIX Systems Engineer.Your primary responsibility will be to lead the group to design, execute and troubleshoot UNIX / Linux installations, and to administrate & make recommendations for the datacenters Storage Area Networks. The position will also assist with new hardware rollout & migrations, occasional Windows patching & troubleshooting and will participate with the rest of team in on-call rotations.Responsbilities & Duties1. Setup, Administer, Document & support Server Hardware running UNIX/Linux Redhat Operating systems. 2. Setup, Administer, Document, & support Storage Area Network Systems. 3. Participate in day to day Server & infrastructure troubleshooting with the rest of the Server operations team. This is measured by successfully closed helpdesk tickets. 4. Support a variety of applications running on the Linux OS. 5. Participate in implementing system security patches. 6. Participate in on-call rotation with the rest of the team.Mimimum Qualifications• Expert level experience on UNIX/Linux Operating System, preferably RedHat. • Expert level Experience with SAN management tools, particularly HP EVA series, EMC Clariion and EMC DMX storage knowledge is required. • Configuring and maintaining application interaction with database sources i.e. Oracle 10G • Experience with fault tolerant systems including clusters, fail over systems, and Raid storage and volume management. HP Proliant systems a must. • Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP. • Fundamental understanding of Windows Server OS. • Some Experience with scripting languages a plus- BASH Shell, PERL scripting and/or VBScript • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation • Strong customer and results orientation • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity • Ability to function as an effective team member • Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
