MAJOR FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Position actively participates in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of object oriented development life-cycle including coding, documentation, testing, implementation, and training. Works collaboratively within small teams while assuming responsibility for the development of system level components within software development projects.

 

Is responsible for understanding both technology, and associated business processes and applying that knowledge to deliver integrated solutions. Position is responsible for writing intelligently planned, highly structured, and well commented code while adhering to Sezmi’s development process and conventions. Individual shares the responsibility for delivering functionality and performance set by project definitions and release milestones.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:

· Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable software within the product development lifecycle.

· Collaborates with other developers to produces software that interacts with web interfaces, logic systems, state-machines, and databases.

· Strong emphasis on object oriented methodology and design.

· Works to improve productivity, while at the same time ensuring the integrity and clarity results.

· Works with QA/test to insure high quality products

· Estimates work tasks to ensure delivery on agreed timescales

· Contributes to institutionalization of disciplines, process, and tools while adhering to the Sezmi’s Development Process

· Performs tasks at the highest level of integrity.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

Required

· JAVA/C++ software development on Linux or Solaris platform for use in application software on consumer electronics products

· Tasks will include implementing user interface back-end logic & state machines, and interfacing with & optimizing MySQL databases

Desired

· Development of digital TV, DVR, or set-top box applications

· Development experience in one or more of the following areas: databases, user interface implementation, Linux and Solaris OSs.

· Experience with network protocols

 

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

· BS/CS or CE equivalent in relevant discipline.

· Experience: 2-5 years of mostly relevant experience.

· Highly developed technical skills are needed to perform the job.

· Experience with video distribution.

· Ideally, will have 1-2 years commercial software development experience within Consumer Electronics, Telecoms, or Aerospace Industries.
