Major Functions / Responsibilities

Position generates, maintains and performs verification and validation activities in the form of quality reviews, test cases and/or test script execution for the purpose of enhancing the performance and quality of our products. Position is responsible for adhering to our documented Product Development Process. Individual shares the responsibility for validating and verifying functionality and performance criteria prior to the release and distribution of completed products.

 

Is responsible for understanding both technology, and associated business processes and applying that knowledge to deliver integrated solutions. Position is responsible for writing intelligently planned, highly structured, and well commented test procedures while adhering to Building-B’s development process and conventions. Individual shares the responsibility for delivering quality and functionality set by project definitions and release milestones.

 

 

Primary Duties

As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:

• Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and/or scripts that support the verification test cycle within the product development lifecycle.

• Produces well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and/or scripts for automated regression testing utilized in integration testing and long term automated and manual qualification and product verification testing.

• Adheres to established test methodologies for validation and verification of product releases.

• Works to exposed anomalies and variations between Product Requirement

Specifications and implementation through the use of sanity, stress, and regression test procedures.

• Works to perform tasks according to needs and schedules as driven by business and customer needs.

• Develops ways to improve productivity, while at the same time ensuring the integrity and clarity of test results.

• Estimates work tasks to ensure delivery by agreed timescales

• Contributes to institutionalization of disciplines, process, and tools while adhering to the Building-B’s Product Development Process

• Performs tasks at the highest level of integrity.

 

Professional Expertise

Required

· C++ software development on Linux or Unix platform

· Web development using C++/Java, JavaScript, XML, and databases.

· Network Protocol implementation

· Development of IPTV or similar packet based video distribution

Desired

· Working with Linux/Unix environments

· Development of digital set-top box applications

· Development experience in one or more of the following areas: embedded databases, user interface implementations, kernel/driver design

 

Education/Training/Experience

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or technology. Is preferred.

· Experience: 6-8 years of mostly relevant QA or Test experience.

· Highly developed technical skills are needed to perform the job.

· Ideally, will have 4 to 6 years commercial software development experience within Consumer Electronics, Telecoms, or Aerospace Industries.
