Senior Global Microbiologist:


Basic Function
Recognized as a technical expert within the company and provides the business with expertise in the areas of microbiology and the handling of bio-systems for all B-F operations. Design and manage microbiology research with the strategic goal of optimizing the manufacturing of beverage alcohol. Develop and establish best practices and manage testing as it relates to the handling of bio-systems. Manage testing that relates to product microbiology safety and quality. Ensure proprietary yeast strains are maintained.
Responsibilities
Responsible for applying microbiological expertise and developing/executing operating procedures that optimize quality and yield in distillery processing.

Initiates, leads, and manages research initiatives. Applies findings to the business.

Establishes microbiological best practices for all B-F operations, including sanitation operating procedures and microbiological specifications.

Develops and implements new microbiological testing methods.

Partners internally with production units, QA, and other R&D technical experts to manage research and operational initiatives.

Partners externally with technical experts in the field of microbiology to stay abreast of microbiological techniques.

Manages staff to implement microbiological testing to support the production of consistent quality of alcoholic beverages.

Oversees microbiologists at plants.

Leads operational troubleshooting & optimization efforts in distillery production.

Must Requirements
M.S. in Microbiology + 5yrs experience or equivalent, preferably in a distillery environment

Initial training will take place in Lynchburg, TN.

Proven microbiology technical expertise

Laboratory management and production operations experience

Supervisory experience

Strong knowledge of statistics and experimental design

Industry networking
