If you're as excited about the future as we are, consider this opportunity.Mattel, Inc. is seeking a senior level Designer to join its Games and Puzzles team, the maker of award-winning games like UNO and Apples to Apples! This position is located at Mattel's world headquarters in El Segundo, California. This role requires exceptional sketching abilities and also someone with a pulse on the industry and traditional board game design experience. This individual must be a creative and innovative Designer seeking to invent new games across multiple platforms (traditional to interactive), licenses and demographics (preschool to adult) ' at the #1 Toy Company in the world! SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Designer is responsible for generating creative game concepts via 2-D sketches and complete 3-D preliminary models, including rough rules. This individual will interact with a talented group of Graphic Designers, Engineers, Copywriters and Marketing professionals on a regular basis. Responsibilities also include:' Presenting concepts to Design, Marketing and Executive Management.' Evaluating inventor projects and preparing recommendations in coordination with the Games Marketing group.' Participating in early stages of product development to insure that product can be manufactured within cost and profit targets.' Supporting ongoing product development as required by Engineering, Graphics and Copywriting. The ideal candidate will be expected to possess: ' Knowledge of the game business in regards to play patterns, materials and manufacturing processes, with an eye on marketing and demographic trends.' Ability to sketch concepts quickly and accurately for presentation and communication purposes' Competency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, plus 3D modeling programs' Understanding of electronic components and an aptitude towards understanding new technologies. ' Ability to translate the above competencies into innovative, cost-effective 3-D games.' Ability to coordinate multiple projects with Engineering, Marketing, Copy writing, Graphics, Packaging, Planning and Legal.' Willingness to manage and be managed in addition to working autonomously with a proactive approach to work. ' Must have game design experience. Board game design desired. EDUCATION REQUIREDBS, BA, or BFA required (Industrial Design or related degree preferred) with a minimum 5-7 years of related experience.
