The salon manager coordinates all activities of staff in the salon. They must be a licensed cosmetologist with experience in salon management or the management of multiple personnel in the strict adherence of protocols. Their primary role is to conduct protocol training to keep the stylist trained in the Unilever hair evaluation protocols, monitor the data of the stylists for validation purposes, create new protocols.

The salon manager is also responsible for the daily execution of studies and will work with the salon recruiter, receptionist, and Unilever scientists to manage the salon schedule assuring that it runs efficiently, combining the right protocols on a daily basis and assuring that consumers are classified properly by hair type into studies.

• Create and document protocols for the hair care category
• Execute test protocols to salon staff for various tests
• Establish consistency in protocols
• Assist in creating global standard protocols
• Train new hires in Sensory Evaluation and various protocols
• Train current stylist panel on various protocols as needed
• Monitor and validate current trained stylist panel
• Managing/scheduling salon testing
• Participate in yearly reviews of salon contractor staff
• Supervise salon recruiter & receptionist
• Conduct interviewing sessions for new contractor hires in salon
• Create recruiting schedules based on study needs
• Create specific project “salon programs” when necessary: ie: hair color program
• Act as liaison between Unilever and licensed cosmetology industry
• Involve salon stylists in various hair care projects when needed
• Attend classes/shows to benefit various hair care products
• Participate in some panelist recruiting
