Research Associate

Essential Duties: Works as part of a Product Development team which consists of four PhDs and the department headAssists the R&D lead scientists in the generation of all documentation necessary to develop a cosmetic or ingestible products (i.e. generate the supplement fact box and information needed for labels and packaging, list of ingredients for cosmetic formulations, finished products specifications, substantiation binder assembly, sample logging)
Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
Assists the R&D lead scientists in developing specifications for raw materials
Participates in meetings with the Research and Development Department on new product development.Works with outside contractors who produce samples for the R&D department as directed by the lead scientists. Conducts in-house evaluation of new cosmetics as instructed. Recommends adjustment to specifications for final product development. Overviews test methodology used. Provides technical assistance to the Compliance department as requested or as directed by the lead scientists.

Job Qualifications:

BS or MS in science, with emphasis in chemistry, or biology, or food and nutrition or cosmetic science. Familiarity with dietary supplements and/or cosmetics preferred. Ability to read and understand scientific and technical journals. Strong written communication skills. Understanding of basic mathematical calculation such as percentages Proficiency in the use of computers, including experience in the utilization of Microsoft office (outlook, Word, Excel), internet access and search engines.Proficient in charting data using Microsoft ExcelDetail oriented Flexible and adaptable
Able to multitask in a fast and dynamic environmentWorking knowledge of metric units and able to convert American units into metric units (pounds into kilograms, inches in centimeters, etc)
