As our Regulatory Specialist, you will perform a variety of activities to ensure that our products conform to state, U.S. and International governmental standards of quality, performance and safety and that product documentation is maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements.  You will also provide support for activities and processes that ensure our compliance with all customs regulations as they apply to the transportation, importation and exportation of raw materials and finished products.  Here are your key responsibilities:

 

Regulatory:

 

Collaborate with Marketing, QA and Purchasing teams on ingredient review, formula qualification, labeling/artwork review and approval and product registration in adherence with U.S. and foreign regulations.

 

Screen formulas for restricted or prohibited ingredients against state, federal and global regulations.  Communicate and apply safety recommendations to global packaging.  Provide guidance to Marketing regarding new ingredients.

 

Prepare dossier packages for formula registration and international regulatory filings.

 

May interact with U.S. and international regulatory agencies and external consultants for clarification and guidance on ingredient listings, formulas and/or labeling-related issues. 

 

Develop MSDS for new products and review existing MSDS for completeness and  accuracy.

 

Ensure suppliers meet all compliance requirements to include regulatory listings, material certifications, functional performance and toxicity. 

 

Organize and maintain accurate product regulatory information. 

 

 

Customs:

 

Monitor export and import related documentation assuring compliance with trade laws as they relate to proper valuation, classification, Certificates of Origin, NAFTA, custom invoices, declarations and current tariffs and other government requirements.  Report on and assist in implementing corrective action as necessary.

 

Interface with suppliers, contract manufacturers, brokers and freight forwarders to ensure adherence to all government export and import regulations.

 

Qualified Candidate will have the following Background and Skills:

 

à  BA or BS degree preferred. 

à  2 – 4 related experience in regulatory, preferably for a consumer products company

à  Familiar with global regulatory requirements including Health Canada and EU cosmetic regulations

à  Good understanding of cosmetic ingredient uses and functionality and product packaging and labeling requirements

à  Previous experience in import/export compliance a plus

à  Solid ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data and offer solutions

à  Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external organizations and agencies

à  Proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Oracle or similar system a plus
