Plant Engineer and Maintenance Manager

New Jersey process manufacturer is looking for a plant engineer and maintenance manager.

The position reports to the Manufacturing Director.

Key Responsibilities Provide management direction and support for manufacturing objectives of production cost reduction, plant up-time, and continuous improvement while meeting the Company’s safety, quality, and customer service standards.  Direct and manage the use of the computerized maintenance management system employed by the maintenance department, including work orders, equipment, parts inventory control, facilities systems, reports and expenses. Analyze and provide a quarterly assessment of maintenance activities by production line or identified maintenance activity. Manage the plant capital projects and expenditures. Project scope includes cost savings, debottlenecking, process improvement, capacity, new products, replacement, and regulatory. Prepare capital authorization requests as required. Provide monthly project status – timing, critical path, project issues, current cost estimate versus budget. Develop and execute a comprehensive turnaround maintenance program for  annual plant shutdowns.  Maintain and evaluate maintenance metrics. Report performance metrics for the weekly tracking including maintenance labor hours by process line, packaging line, and major plant activities Justify actual versus planned overtime. Evaluate downtime by production line. Budget and Expense Management: Prepare annual maintenance expense budget and provide budget revisions as requested. Evaluate monthly actuals versus budget. Provide explanation for expenditures and deviations from plan.

 Minimum Qualifications 10 years of operations experience. 5+ years of project engineering and maintenance supervision with a process manufacturer having extensive filling and packaging equipment. Direct supervision of engineers and maintenance personnel. Prior experience implementing and maintaining a computerized maintenance management system. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Training:  lean manufacturing, kaizen, 5S, OEE.  Key Skills and Qualities Highly-organized, results-driven manager. Strong planning, analytical, and quantitative skills.
