The Oracle Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration of an Oracle database environment including the design, installation, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and its support. Candidates should be proactive, motivated, organized, extremely flexible, and work well within fast-paced groups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or management.
DBMS [Oracle (primary), MS-SQL (secondary), and other MySQL (a plus)] software installation, upgrade, patch. Database creation and migration Database capacity planning Database object creation and maintenance Database backup and recovery Database problem diagnostics and resolution Writing Database monitoring scriptsDatabase operational documentation Troubleshoot issues and performance tuningDBA on-call support rotation as needed
Qualifications
Willingness to learn new skills and new knowledge Ability to follow established technical standardsExperience in managing high transactional large databases Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processesKnowledge of specialty services including HA Cluster Technology, Replication, Disaster Recovery, Data Warehouse products and backup servers.Ability to work well both independently and with other team membersAbility to multi-task required and provide rapid support in productionEffective communication skills (both verbal and written)Experience in an eCommerce environment and/or ATG (optional, but a definite plus)Reliable transportation is required as some travel between buildings on an extended business campus (1 – 2 miles) is required.May be required to work long hours under pressure while resolving critical issues
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field, and at least 5+ years of experience
7+ years of relevant Oracle 8.x, 9i and 10g database administration experience
Computer Skills
Experience with Linux and shell scripting
