Founded in 1963, UFP Technologies is an innovative designer and custom converter of foam, plastics and natural fiber products serving both the consumer and industrial markets.  The company operates in North America with eleven factories and comprises two divisions, Engineered Packaging and Component Products.

 

UFP's Engineered Packaging Division provides interior protective packaging solutions utilizing molded fiber, vacuum and formed plastics, and molded and fabricated foam plastic products. Markets served include computer electronics, medical and pharmaceutical, military, automotive, and industrial. The Engineered Packaging Division of UFP provides its customers with an array of material choices, long and short-run capabilities and affordable alternatives that utilize years of engineering and design experience.

 

We are looking for an energetic, career oriented professional to fill an exciting opportunity as a Purchasing Manager, for our United Foam division in Raritan, NJ.

 

SUMMARY: 

 

This position reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the timely and effective procurement of raw materials and MRO supplies; storage and positioning of materials in trailers and warehouse; and maintenance of appropriate levels of inventories as well as their accuracy.  It is also responsible for the maintenance of existing vendor relationships and the development of new ones.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

· Assures accurate inventory counts are achieved at month-end.

· Places or oversees placement of PO’s for relevant raw materials and MRO supplies

· Utilizes existing vendors while cultivating or investigating new ones for risk limitation or cost saving comparisons.

· Maintains Purchasing Module in MAX -keeps information current in Bills of Materials, Vendor Master, etc.

· Maintains copies of MSDS sheets, Certificates of Compliance and Order Acknowledgements.

· Researches and/or implements cost saving ideas – through material substitutions or improvements or process optimization.

· Oversees execution of the duties of the Receiving Clerk and Driver.

· Assures Purchasing practices follow procedures in ISO manual

· Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the GM.

 

REQUIRED EDUCTION / TRAINING:

 

· Bachelors degree or equivalent

· Computer skills – Word/Excel/Outlook

· 10 Years experience in Purchasing or related field

· Understanding of MRP methodology

· Familiarity with ISO certification
