Manager of Continuous Improvement
Manager of Continuous Improvement My client is a growing and profitable manufacturer of high quality steel containers used for a variety of different applications in many different markets. They are a one-shift operation (by choice) and have a motivated workforce with a strong retention rate. They are a non-union shop with lean manufacturing principles in place, but lots of room for improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for growth. What you will like about the company: Financially sound and focused company High end products (products are focused on higher quality not low cost) Employee focused culture (positive, training, bonuses, education etc.) Both assembly and value added operations Well established business growing in market share Position reports directly to the General Manager who has strong manufacturing background and a forward thinking approach ISO based model Low politics, get-it-done environment Great benefits package (including bonus and 401k) What you will like about the opportunity: New, upgraded role (much more progressive) Have a direct impact on the whole manufacturing operation Opportunity to learn advanced lean principles and practices Multi faceted role (Quality systems and processes, process improvement etc) Autonomy and self directed role Opportunity to put your good ideas in place (new ideas and thoughts are encouraged) Oracle MRP/ERP system Key corporate interaction involving strategic initiatives and doing quality system audits for other facilities The best candidates will have most of the following: Must have: strong analytical ability Must have: Proven, in-depth experience in leading manufacturing continuous improvement Understanding of quality systems (ISO and similar) and practices, internal auditing, Sense of urgency, understanding of priorities Experience in direct customer interactions and relations Good organizational skills, including project management Gut level sense for quality and process issues Proficiency in the use of key tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, TQM, fishbone diagrams, root cause analysis etc) Formal education a plus, but not critical, engineering degree is preferred Lean experience a plus Polished professional but also comfortable being “hands-on” on the manufacturing floor Candidates either need to be able to commute or relocate to the client's location south of Chicago.
