This is a non-exempt, hourly position.  The Senior Operator is directly responsible for the efficient and safe production of quality products in the required quantities.  Performs highly complex operational tasks including line control point tasks.  Also performs equipment repairs, prepares and uses internal process documents. Will mentor other associates and prepare functional skills training and documentation for assigned area system(s), and functions in a specialist/trainer role within the team or working area. Responsible for making improvements to the overall line, area or system performance. Principle Accountabilities: Drive implementation of a “Continuous Improvement â€� organization that demonstrates improvement by continuously driving faults lower.  Be engaged and engage associates in using the following tools/process: Recording of line performance & related issues Make observations to improve equipment performance Formulate ideas for improvement and organize the required resources and test ideas Maintain/drive an action register addressing issues Develop and assure use of Standardized work instructions Participate in a formal process of reviewing line performance, sharing action plans and make resource requests to improve line performance. Assists Technicians in the repair and trouble shooting of routine and non routine mechanical repairs. Shares ownership/stewardship for line/area, system and equipment. Responsible for changeovers, participating in small projects for improved processing and communicating the necessary performance to meet capacity specifications. Leadership role in helping team meet its responsibilities and development toward a self-directed team. Train other team members in their tasks, responsibilities and duties; be a mentor to other team members in both functional expertise and team dynamics. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Ability to lift 55 lbs.  Interpersonal/team skills Mechanical aptitude Good communication skills Analytical thinking Willingness and aptitude to train others Some travel possible  Knowledge of basic statistical applications Forklift Certification Physical requirements: Standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, lifting, wisting, pulling, pushing, sitting for long periods of time and depth perception. Willing to work overtime.
