Job Duties

Direct to Associate General Counsel



 

To protect and maintain Prestige Brands' intellectual property comprised of trademarks, patents, trade secrets and other proprietary information 



*Research potential trademarks and collect information necessary for the filing of trademark, patent and copyright applications 

 

*Monitor trademark and patent docket and take necessary actions to maintain trademarks and patents

 

*Draft responses to Office Actions for trademark or patent applications

 

*Preparation and filing of Affidavits for trademarks and patents

 

* Establish trademark, patent, trade secret and other proprietary information guidelines by researching, developing, writing, and updating applicable policies and procedures

* Protect patents and trademarks by reviewing advertising and product label content



*Instruct and guide sales and marketing executives in proper trademark use


*Prepares cease and desist letters on an as-needed basis

 

* Litigate and/or assist outside counsel with patent and trademark infringement actions

*Provide risk-management advice to Company regarding existing intellectual property and product labeling

 

*Develop network of foreign counsel needed from time to time to file and pursue foreign trademarks and oppositions

 

*Prepare, negotiate and review license agreements, confidentiality agreements and other commercial agreements

 

* Skills/Qualifications:
JD degree from reputable law school, 3 to 5 years of experience as external legal counsel and/or in-house counsel on intellectual property and trademark matters, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills and ability to multi-task
