Entry Level Assembler Position Available at ITW!

ITW Signode, a Fortune 200 Company, and the world’s leading manufacturer and direct marketer of steel and plastic strapping, packaging systems, and packaging products has an exceptional opportunity for an Assembler in Glenview, Illinois.  The Assembler performs duties including bench assemble hand tools and complete products, make operational tests and package products for shipment.

 

Responsibilities

 

· Assemble, test and package hand tools, also known as “two pieceâ€� tools.

· Obtain parts, select assembly methods and fit parts to close tolerances.

· Perform hand and machine operations to fit parts, such as scraping grinding and pressing, and drill parts as required.

· Lubricate, align and adjust parts subassemblies for free working and proper operation.

· Attach and make nameplates as required.

· Conduct operating tests on finished goods.

· Package and skid finished products, obtain cartons and packing materials, insert product, auxiliary components and documents in carton, seal and label cartons and stack on skid.

· Troubleshoot any tools or machinery which is not operating properly.

· Assist in training less experienced employees.

· Follow all company safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly.

· Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills

 

· Ability to work from simple engineering drawings and specifications, product manuals and packing instructions.

· Previous experience with equipment including feeler gauge, scale, direct reading gauges, common hand and hand power tools, arbor and hydraulic press, drill press, grinder, testing machines, hand and hand power trucks is preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in an industrial, mechanical and/or manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.

· Ability to lift 5-10 lbs on a regular basis and up to 40 lbs occasionally.

· 0-2 years stable work history.

· High school diploma or equivalent.
